First Look at the Dell Mini Inspiron Mini-Notebook

May 28, 2008 3:46 pm

An Eee PC killer is on the loose! Hide your Eee PC 4Gs, 900s, and even the 901s! Gizmodo’s Brian Lam caught a glimpse of a hot red Dell Mini Inspiron. Personally, I am more interested in how Lam just “bumped into” Michael Dell, but here is what was revealed of Dell’s mini-notebook.
The system has […]

Three Free Drool-Worthy BlackBerry Themes

2:48 pm

I was just surfing the Howard Forums checking for some hot tips when I stumbled across three free BlackBerry themes I thought were worth sharing. Apparently the company giving them away, eVeek, is celebrating its one-year anniversary of creating and selling themes, and three of them are available now over the air: iBerry makes your […]

Alienware Ignoring m15x Issues?

11:06 am

The m15x was greeted with open arms when it first arrived in our offices on February 19, 2008. By the time we’d finished our review, on March 20, we awarded it our Editors’ Choice, because it earned great benchmark scores compared with other gaming rigs that had come through our office.
But our benchmarks didn’t pick […]

RazorBook Now $299

10:39 am

Yesterday I spent a lot of time with 3K Computer’s RazorBook 400. At the time, the system was priced at $399 and compared with the $399 Eee PC 4G (Xandros), it just couldn’t hold a candle. I noted the system’s inability to load on new programs and Flash to view streaming video. Today the […]

Kingston DataTraveler Secure-Privacy Edition Review

8:37 am

If you work for the FBI or have some ultra secret files, the Kingston DataTraveler Secure Privacy Edition USB flash drive, might just be perfect for you. It is an enterprise-grade USB Flash drive with 256-bit hardware-based, on-the-fly encryption. The stored data is 100 percent secure, with no public area to expose files. It might even be good for college students in need of a very secure flash drive to hold their personal information like tax returns, bills or school stuff.

ASUS XG Station Rises from the Dead

8:20 am

It’s baaa-aaack. A couple of CESes ago, the Asus XG Station was revealed to much acclaim, touted as the world’s first external graphics card/multimedia hub that would bring desktop-caliber graphics and 5.1 surround sound audio to notebooks. We even deemed it the Best Notebook Accessory of CES 2007. So it was no surprise that gamers […]

First Look at VIA’s OpenBook

7:07 am

We got our hands on the reference design VIA is shopping out to the OEMs, but it’s missing one thing: the much-anticipated Isaiah processor.
Just a tad deeper than the HP MiniNote 2133, VIA’s latest brainchild, the Open Book, offers two webcams, a built-in GPS receiver, Bluetooth, and integrated Wi-Fi and even Wi-MAX antennas. But inside, […]

Mini-Review: 3K RazorBook 400 Mini-Notebook

May 27, 2008 4:05 pm

A few weeks ago I wrote a somewhat pessimistic post on 3K’s RazorBook 400. This morning the system arrived at our offices, and I have to say its not as bad as I’d expected. The unit containing a 4GB SSD, 512MB of memory, and an odd flavor of Linux is available from 3K Computers […]
