Good news for all you gizmo-freaks out there. Dell has, in all probability, leaked some critical information on their new XPS M1530 notebooks, which happens to be a bigger and infinitely better looking as well as more powerful version of XPS 1330.
Big is beautiful. Dell has upgraded the 13-inch screen to a lovely 15.40-incher, convenient and user-friendly to no end. There’s good news on the graphics front too — an optional Nvidia GeForce 8600 M GT graphics card in place of GeForce 8400M GS.

It comes with Crestline GM/PM 965 chipset with up to 4GB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM, HDMI, VGA, 1394, ExpressCard, (3) USB 2.0, Ethernet, fingerprint reader, media reader, 2.0 megapixel (with CCFL) or 300k (with LED) cameras.

The new model does away with the LED backlight option and showcases just standard CCFL up to 1680 x 1050, LED up to 1440 x 900The resolution stays the same too, [...]

Lenovo gears up to release Linux powered laptops

Lenovo has just announced that the company will soon start selling its new laptops to businesses and other consumers with pre-installed Linux, which is emerging fast as a successful substitute to Microsoft Windows.
The laptops are ready and will hit our shelves sometimes at the end of this year. Early this year Dell too dropped Linux-powered laptops based on customer suggestions for new products, whose results revealed high Linux PC demands.
Linux was first introduced to the public approximately 16 years ago and was developed by Linus Torvalds who aimed to build a non-commercial substitute for an operating system used in many universities. Primarily, Linux is used to power web servers, the time when its growth on desktop computers was confined as per technology specialists, but its practice by brand names like Lenovo and Dell widened its growth and future prospects.

Dell’s new flagship notebook, the XPS M1330 is set to be a best seller in 2007. One disgruntled customer is reporting a 2 month delay on shipping, which probably means these slim line Dell laptops are selling faster than demand can keep up.

Gateway makes a recall for 14,000 notebook batteries

Dell, Apple, Lenovo, and other global laptop makers have already recalled more than 8 million Sony batteries and now, Gateway is recalling 14,000 batteries used in its notebook PCs after four of its customers complained that their computers were overheated. The battery cells have been made by Samsung Electronics Company Limited while they have been amassed into battery packs by Simplo Technology Company Limited, of Taiwan. Samsung hasn
??t commented on the recall.
Some of the notebooks that fall under the recall are the Gateway 400VTX and 450ROG series notebooks sold between May 2003 and August 2003. The defected batteries have been recognized by part numbers 6500760 or 6500761 and have a “made by SMP” on the label pasted on the underside of the battery pack. Gateway spokeswoman Lisa Emard said:

The root cause of this failure becomes apparent as the batteries age and perform repetitive charging cycles. Of the four customer [...]

XPS M1330 and Inspiron Series Coming By the End of This Month

Official blog of Dell, Direct2Dell has recently posted a new title “Dell’s 23 confessions”. Lionel Menchaca, Digital Media Manager of Dell has also apologized for some upsetting public missteps.
Dell also confirmed about the soon to be released laptops XPS m1330 and Inspiron series in its confession number 9. Both of them will be released by the end of the month. But, Dell’s open and frank discussion with consumer community needs to be appreciated. Moreover, it is quite refreshing as compare to other popular names in the same industry.

Dell XPS m1330 ultraportable on the way

Apparently, we might see a new Dell ultraportable anytime soon. The specs and the looks of the new XPS m1330 are fairly impressive. The 13.3-inch lappy comes equipped with an optional LED backlit LCD boasting a brightness of 300cd/m2. Other salient features include Core 2 Duo processors of up to 2.4GHz, Santa Rosa chip, up to 4GB DDR2 SDRAM. You can either opt for a 32GB SSD drive or a 250GB HDD. Ethernet, 802.11a, a/g/ n and Bluetooth inclusion takes care of the connectivity issues.

Other on-board specs include a slot-loading DVD burner, an integrated 2MP webcam, HDMI and VGA connectors, a 128MB GeForce Go 8400M GS card and a biometric scanner. The machine will weigh 4 pounds. That

Joybook S41: BenQ’s Santa Rosa-equipped beauty

Along with Evesham, Dell, Toshiba, and Lenovo, BenQ has also rolled out its Santa Rosa-based 14.1-inch widescreen Joybook S41 notebook. The good looking laptop is blessed with an array of functionalities, including up to 2GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, wireless a/b/g/n, an NVIDIA GeForce 8600M and a 1.3-megapixel webcam. Other than that, the Snaat Rosa notebook will be equipped with feature an HDMI-output and an ExpressCard slot. While we have no hint about the pricing, the Joybook S41 is expected to debut anytime this month.
